Muslim ban but #iamamuslimtoo

Recently in The United States of America the newly elected president, Donald Trump, has placed a ban on immigrants, Muslims to be specific. The ‘Muslim ban’ was a center piece of the presid170130155340-trump-bannon-priebus-pence-medium-plus-169.jpgent’s campaign for months, and the press release calling for it was still available on his website as of the day this Memorandum Opinion is being entered,” writes Judge Leonie Brinkema, of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. With many citizens in support of the president, there are just as many in opposition. Social media’s response to this ban has come in many forms. One that caught my eye was the hashtag #iammuslimtoo on Twitter.

Simply put, placing a ban on Muslims goes against the constitution. Page Pate on CNN says “there are three basic constitutional arguments against the executive order: it violates the due process rights of noncitizens, it denies equaScreen Shot 2017-02-19 at 10.08.48 PM.pngl protection to noncitizens who are Muslim and it promotes one religion over another”. Allowing a double standard such as this one to stand for too long and it will grow legs in not
me. With America being founded by immigrants from all corners of the map, placing a ban on the same people who help make this place what is doesn’t add up.

  1. This is not a “Muslim ban.” It is a ban on only seven nations where the main religion is Islam. Immigration is not controlled in these nations, and for that reason, the ban applies to any person from those nations wishing to enter the U.S. There are dozens of other nations in the world where the primary religion is Islam, and those nations are NOT included in this ban. Please become educated and watch or read media that is not biased against Donald Trump (who is only trying to protect all U.S. residents against radical Islamic terrorism, including peaceful Muslims in the U.S.) before you post. This post only makes you look uneducated and stupid and ignorant of the facts. You probably also don’t know that killing non-Muslims is directly stated in the Quran, so peaceful Muslims are not Quran literalists. You would know that if you bothered to study Islam. I have.
