President Trump Brings Out the MOAB on Afghanistan

Produced in 2003, the M.O.A.B. “Massive Ordinance Air Blast” is the largest non-nuclear bomb that the United States has in its arsenal. Nicknamed the “Mother Of All Bombs”, the M.O.A.B. has a 1 mile blast radius capable of destroying towns or parts of cities. It specializes in intimidating enemies into position with strategic strikes. Why is this important? Well because President Trump recently dropped one in the country of Afghanistan.

President Trump has been persistent in his fight to deal with terror through aerial strikes. Some could say that is a good thing, but others are skeptical. On Twitter, many are saying Trump are using the bombings as a distraction from his administration flaws. Others say he doesn’t know what he is doing. One thing is clear. Bombings are going to be a tool Trump uses to garner American spirit.

This was demonstrated last week when Trump launched 59 Tomahawk missiles at an ISIS airfield. The result of that incident led to Russian ties with US to tighten and destroyed a majority of ISIS equipment. However, the air base was fully operational by the next day.

All that is known regarding the bomb dropped off in Afghanistan is that it cost $16 million in taxpayer money. The target of the bomb were ISIS transportation tunnels. No reports on confirmed kills or whether Trump even authorized the bomb. With chaos in the White House, it is hard to find out whether we will find any information at all regarding the strike.

There has never been a more important time to question the authorization of a MOAB with no threat in sight. Beating the enemy is important, but so is strategically using our resources. Overkill is a bit extreme.
